AARON BARRETT
Aaron designs, builds, procures and deploys Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) and sensors for scientific and RnD purposes. Currently working for the Marine Business Technology Centre (MBTC) via the University of Plymouth. This is a Regional Development Fund project to facilitate the deployment of USV based products and services into Smart Sound Plymouth. Smart Sound Plymouth is the marine digital testing ground in the South West of the UK.
Aaron’s background in Marine Science, Engineering and the Navy gives him a unique perspective on the rapidly developing world of uncrewed and remote marine technology.
Aaron is a commercially qualified Yachtmaster Offshore skipper and have completed industry USV training. He has a particular interest in the compliance of novel technologies with maritime law and has written the University of Plymouth operations manual for USV deployment.
